Dealing With People On The Left

…My problem with many of the left, is that even they don’t seem to believe their nostrums work (has communism or socialism ever worked?), but that they obsess on them either out of some psychological need to virtue signal or, by rhetoric, square their circle of their own privilege and elitism.

As I age, I think leftism is more and more for the more furious and loud a psychological aberration, in which the more highly educated feel somehow they are not properly listened to, or are not compensated commensurately with their unappreciated genius or the many letters after their names, or sense that their lives have unfairly not ended up as they deserved given some long ago parental slight or childhood unfairness, or the price they paid for superior virtue in an unfair world of jet skiers and Winnebago owners, in which to the victors of capitalism, go the spoils.

So I sort of see many of the loud, obnoxious, and slanderous on the Left as troubled and frenzied in their pathological state rather than merely self-destructive and dangerous to others.

Yours sincerely,

Victor Davis Hanson

  1. I’m amazed at the perceived ‘moral high ground’ that the left displays. In my über liberal neighborhood there is no middle ground when attempting to have any conversation that strays from the liberal script. And the tone and volume of their voices raises to apoplectic levels while trying to explain your point of view.

It basically comes down to this; You can disagree with a liberal, but you can’t be right and disagree with a liberal.

  2. Interesting comment. I’m plagued with a similar situation.
I’m also in an Uber liberal area and anytime I attempt to reason with one of them they just want to scream over me.
Facts do not apply. Listening does not apply.

I’m glad to see conservative voices are not dead yet. They just need to come out and unify.

  3. Just another comment about the left.

I tend to browse other blogs now and then and find the majority are mostly left minded individuals.
They’re talking now about Christmas shopping and shortages.
They all mention about supply chain problems and inflation but they just don’t mention the cause of the problems.

Denial is not just a river in Egypt
