Messy basements? I see these photos also – garages, basements, etc. I always assumed that the purpose was soundproofing or similar privacy concerns – “What would the neighbors think if they knew I spanked you on a regular basis?”

First photo is simple. Wearing such a tight skirt causes problems during flatulence. Being able to open the skirt in such a manner reduces pressure thus not having to worry about blowing your shoes off.
#3: The messy basement could be representing “a trip to the woodshed/tool-shed”. No acoustics which amplify the sound of a good paddle.
